Het is samengesteld uit zeer zuivere kwartsdeeltjes en milieuvriendelijke hars, geperst onder hoge temperatuur en hoge druk. Bewerkt kwarts is qua uiterlijk en textuur vergelijkbaar met natuursteen, maar heeft betere fysieke en verwerkingseigenschappen. Met zijn waterdichte, corrosiebestendige en gemakkelijk schoon te maken eigenschappen wordt kwarts vaak gebruikt in interieurdecoratie, zoals keukenwerkbladen, gootstenen, wand- en vloertegels, enz.
